Niconico URL formats
Niconico video URLs look like nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12345678. You can also copy from the share menu inside the player. Both the full URL and the short sm-ID format work with Klypio.
Comment overlay (弾幕) is not part of the file
The floating comment overlay — a signature Niconico feature — is rendered in real time by the player and cannot be embedded in a standard MP4 file. The download is a clean video without comments.
Premium-only content
Some Niconico videos are restricted to Niconico Premium subscribers. Attempting to download those will return an access error. Public videos without subscription gates work freely.
Mylist (playlist) downloads
Niconico mylist playlists are not yet supported as bulk imports. Paste each video URL individually. Batch support for Niconico mylists is on the Pro roadmap.
Niconama live broadcasts
Live streams on Niconama (live.nicovideo.jp) cannot be downloaded while broadcasting. Once a broadcast ends and is archived as a timeshift, you can download the archive using its regular video URL.
Quality auto-selection
Klypio automatically selects the best quality available for the video. If the creator uploaded only a lower-resolution version, that becomes the maximum available option.

Can I download the comment overlay (弾幕) along with the video?▼
No. The comment overlay is rendered dynamically by the Niconico player and is not stored within the video file. The downloaded MP4 contains the video stream only.
Does Klypio support Niconico Premium-restricted videos?▼
Premium-locked content returns an access error because Klypio cannot authenticate against a paid subscription. Only publicly viewable videos are supported.
Is Niconico content region-restricted?▼
Most Niconico content is accessible globally, but some videos are restricted to Japanese IPs. Those return a geo-block error and cannot be downloaded.
Do I need a Niconico account to download?▼
For public videos, no account is needed. Some content requires login — Pro users can supply session cookies to access those videos.
