Many creators look at analytics without knowing what they are looking for. Views went up — but why? Watch time dropped — is it the new thumbnail? A structured weekly digest helps you answer those questions in under 30 minutes per week.
Pick the right metrics to track weekly
You do not need to track everything. Group by objective:
- Growth: New subscribers/followers, net growth (new minus unfollows)
- Reach: Impressions, reach, views
- Engagement: Likes, comments, shares, saves — and engagement rate
- Retention: Average watch time, audience retention curve
- Revenue (if applicable): AdSense, affiliate clicks, product sales
Weekly digest template structure
Section 1: This week vs last week snapshot
Simple comparison table: this week | last week | % change. Green = better, red = worse. Ten seconds of reading tells you the trend at a glance.
Section 2: Top content this week
Top 3 pieces by performance — views, engagement, or revenue. Add a short note: why did this content work? What can you apply next week?
Section 3: Observations
Write 2–3 sentences in your own words: "Changed thumbnail format to X this week — CTR up 15%. Will test again next week." No data needed here, just your own read of the week.
Section 4: Next week goals
1–3 specific actions based on this week's data. Not a long-term plan — just your next move.
