You're watching a Twitch stream, see an incredible play or a hilarious moment and want to save it — but Twitch's native download option is only available to the streamer for their own VODs. Regular viewers have no built-in download button. You'll need an external tool.
Here's the fastest way to download Twitch clips and VODs.
Downloading a Twitch Clip (Web Tool)
The quickest method — no installation required:
- Open the Twitch clip you want → copy the URL from your browser's address bar
It'll look like:twitch.tv/clip/ClipName-XXXXXXXXXXXXorclips.twitch.tv/ClipName - Go to klypio.com/twitch-downloader
- Paste the URL into the field → click Download
- Select quality (360p, 480p, 720p, or 1080p) → download the MP4 file
Twitch clips are usually 30 seconds to a few minutes long — they download quickly.
Downloading a Twitch VOD (Full Stream Recording)
VODs are full recordings of an entire stream — often 2–8 hours long. Streamers can choose whether to enable VOD saving in their channel settings.
- Go to the streamer's channel → click the Videos tab → select the VOD
- Copy the VOD URL (format:
twitch.tv/videos/XXXXXXXXXX) - Paste into klypio.com/twitch-downloader → download
Important about VODs: Twitch automatically deletes VODs after 14–60 days depending on account type. Partners and Affiliates keep VODs longer than regular accounts. Download any VOD you want to keep before the expiry window closes.
Download Twitch Clips on Mobile via @KlypioBot
If you're on your phone and don't want to type URLs into a browser:
- Open the Twitch app → find the clip → tap Share → Copy link
- Open Telegram → message
@KlypioBot→ paste the link → send - The bot recognizes the Twitch link and returns an MP4 file in chat
- Long-press the file → Save to device
The bot supports both clips and full VODs. Long VODs may take a few minutes to process. See the full feature list at @KlypioBot guide.
Video Quality When Downloading
Twitch clips are stored at multiple quality levels based on what the original stream supported:
- Source quality — original stream quality (usually 1080p60 for Partners, 720p60 for standard)
- 720p, 480p, 360p — lower tiers for faster downloads on slower connections
Klypio shows all available quality options before you download. Pick Source for the best quality.
When Clips Can't Be Downloaded
- Clip deleted by the streamer — no tool can recover deleted content
- VOD has expired — Twitch deletes automatically, cannot be recovered after removal
- Sub-only content — some streams have subscriber-only VODs that external tools can't access
