Twitch VODs expire automatically — 14 days for standard accounts, 60 days for Affiliates and Partners. A 6-hour gaming session or cooking stream you meant to rewatch can disappear without warning. For public VODs, downloading before the expiry window is the only reliable way to keep them.
How to Download a Public Twitch VOD
- Open the Twitch VOD page (
twitch.tv/videos/XXXXXXXXX) - Copy the URL
- Open klypio.com/app
- Paste the link → select quality (720p, 1080p, or max) → download
Sub-Only VODs
Some channels mark their VODs as subscriber-only. Klypio can only download VODs that are publicly accessible. Sub-only VODs require a valid subscriber account to access the source stream.
Already Deleted VODs
If a VOD has been deleted from Twitch, there's no way to recover it externally. This is why downloading soon after a stream ends — before the storage window expires — is the only reliable approach.
Playing the Downloaded VOD
- VODs download as MP4 files — open with VLC or any video player
- Long streams are large: a 6-hour stream at 1080p is typically 10–20GB
- To watch only a specific segment: download first, then use VLC's clip function to trim
