The first 3–5 seconds determine whether viewers stay or swipe. Many creators finish writing a script without knowing whether the hook is strong until the video drops and they see a drop-off in the first five seconds. AI script analyzers give you earlier feedback — before you spend time filming.
Notice: AI provides draft feedback — the final production decision is still yours. AI does not know your specific audience, does not understand local cultural context, and cannot replace the instincts of a creator who truly knows their viewers.
What makes a hook strong?
There is no single formula — but strong hooks tend to include at least one of:
- Pattern interrupt: An opening that breaks the viewer's expected mental flow
- Clear promise: "After this video you will know how to..."
- Curiosity question: A question the viewer does not know the answer to but wants to
- Conflict or tension: "You are doing this wrong — and you do not realise it"
- Surprising stat: Only if it is real and verifiable
How to use AI for hook analysis
Step 1: Paste the hook into AI with an analysis prompt
Example prompt: "Here is the first 30 seconds of my TikTok script aimed at [audience description]. Please evaluate: (1) Does it have a pattern interrupt? (2) Is the promise clear? (3) What is the main weakness? Suggest 2 improvements."
Step 2: Compare 2–3 hook versions
Write 2–3 different hook versions. Paste all of them and ask "which has stronger hook potential and why?" Use the feedback to choose a direction — not to copy the AI's suggested wording directly.
Step 3: Review AI feedback against your actual context
AI tends to evaluate based on general patterns — not your specific audience. Feedback like "be more direct" may be right for English YouTube but wrong for Vietnamese Gen Z TikTok audiences who prefer informal styles.
Limits of AI script analyzers
- Does not know your video performance history
- Does not understand the subculture or specific trends your audience follows
- Feedback is based on training data — may be out of date with current trends
- Cannot feel delivery (pace, tone, energy)
