How to Use AI to Detect AI-Generated Content Tags for Creators 2026

How creators use AI to check and tag AI-generated content in 2026. AI is a supplementary layer — it does not replace creator disclosure. Practical, no-fluff guide.

More platforms are requiring creators to label AI-generated content — YouTube, TikTok, and Meta are all rolling out policies. But many creators are unsure: will their content be flagged as AI-generated, and when exactly do they need to disclose?

Important note: AI detection tools are a supplementary layer — they do not replace creator disclosure. If you used AI to create or significantly edit your content, disclose it regardless of what a detection tool says. Detection tools can be wrong.

When does AI-generated content need a tag?

Each platform has its own rules, but common cases include:

  • Fully AI-generated video: Explicit tagging required (e.g. TikTok AI-generated label, YouTube altered/synthetic media label)
  • AI voice cloning: Disclosure required when synthesising a real person's voice
  • AI imagery in news or current events content: Mandatory tagging on most platforms
  • Light AI-assisted processing (auto colour correction, noise reduction): Usually no tag required

The lines are not always clear — when in doubt, disclose.

How to use AI detection tools

Detection tools help you check whether text, images, or audio show signs of being AI-generated. Keep in mind:

  • Detection tools are not definitive — they have false positive and false negative rates
  • Use detection as an additional check, not the final word
  • A clean detection result does not remove your disclosure obligation if you know you used AI significantly

Practical process:

  1. Run your content through a detection tool (e.g. Hive Moderation for image/video, various text detection tools)
  2. Review the result — if the score is high, check which parts were flagged
  3. Make your own disclosure decision based on what you actually know about how your content was created
  4. Apply the platform-specific tag before publishing

AI is a draft — you still review

Whether you used AI to write a script, generate a voiceover, or edit images — the review and final decision remain yours. Detection tools support just one small step in the process. Do not rely solely on a tool to decide whether disclosure is needed.
