Shooting video from multiple angles simultaneously makes your content look more professional — but the post-production workflow to stitch it together correctly is not always obvious. Here's the full workflow end to end.
Why use multi-camera?
- Cutting between angles creates energy and keeps video from feeling static
- Coverage backup: if one camera shakes or gets blocked, you have another angle
- Interviews and podcasts with wide + close-up angles look far more professional
- Events and live sessions benefit from simultaneous wide and detail shots
Preparation before shooting
Sync point — the most important step
To sync cameras easily, you need a common reference point:
- Clapper board: The "clap" creates a clear audio waveform spike visible in all camera recordings
- Hand clap: If you do not have a clapper, a sharp hand clap at the start of each take visible to all cameras works
- Timecode if available: Professional cameras can share timecode — easiest sync method but requires compatible equipment
Camera settings
- Same frame rate across all cameras (all 24fps or all 30fps — do not mix)
- Similar exposure and white balance so colour does not vary too much between cuts
- Label your angles: Cam A = wide shot, Cam B = medium, Cam C = close-up
Stitch workflow in editing software
DaVinci Resolve (free, recommended)
- Import all clips into the Media Pool
- Select all clips → right-click → "Create Multi-Cam Clip" → sync by audio waveform
- Resolve auto-syncs and creates a multicam sequence
- Open Cut or Edit page → enable multicam viewer → click to switch angles in real time while playing
- Fine-tune cut points as needed
Premiere Pro
- Select all clips → right-click → "Create Multi-Camera Source Sequence" → sync by audio
- Open multicam view → record angle switches in real time
- Make detailed edits on the timeline
Export and archiving
After editing, export and archive both the raw multi-angle sources and the final edit. Use Klypio to download and save reference videos from YouTube or other platforms, or ask @KlypioBot to deliver to Telegram.
