Do you export a video and immediately upload it? No review, no backup, no checking performance at 48 hours? A few simple steps can save you from uploading the wrong file, losing your source, or never knowing which videos are actually working.
Here's a complete video shipping checklist — from export to analysis — use it as a standard process for every video you publish.
Phase 1 — Export and technical check
- Export with the right preset: 1080p/4K, 16:9 (YouTube/Facebook) or 9:16 (TikTok/Reels)
- Check audio: balanced levels, no clipping, no buzz or hum
- Watch the full video one final time on a different screen (not your edit monitor)
- Check subtitles/captions if included: correct timing, correct spelling
- Name the file using a consistent convention: [platform]-[date]-[short-title].mp4
Phase 2 — Backup and storage
- Save the raw edit project to an external drive or cloud before deleting anything
- Save the final export to your cloud library (Google Drive, Dropbox)
- Archive via @KlypioBot for an independent backup outside any platform
- Update your video library tracking spreadsheet with the link and metadata
Phase 3 — Prepare metadata before upload
- Write an optimized title: include primary keyword, under 70 chars (YouTube), under 150 chars (TikTok)
- Write the description: the first paragraph matters most — include keyword + hook
- Prepare thumbnail: correct dimensions, test contrast and text readability
- Prepare hashtags (TikTok/Instagram) or tags (YouTube)
- Schedule publication: choose peak hours that match your audience's timezone
Phase 4 — After publishing (first 48 hours)
- Check the video 1 hour after publish: captions correct, thumbnail showing correctly?
- Reply to comments within the first 2 hours — this is an important algorithm signal
- Share to your story, community post, or newsletter
- Record metrics at 24h and 48h: views, watch time, CTR, engagement rate
Phase 5 — Analyze at 7–30 days
- Compare CTR vs previous videos: which thumbnail performed better?
- Check average view duration: where are viewers dropping off?
- Review traffic sources: search, suggested, external — adjust your SEO strategy accordingly
- Document lessons in a "What worked / What didn't" doc to improve future videos
