My Discord server has a #resources channel packed with training clips and tutorials shared over months. The problem: Discord expires CDN file links after approximately 2 weeks. If those clips weren't downloaded, they're gone. Here's how to save video content from your own Discord server before those links expire.
Types of Video in Discord
Discord has two types of video content:
- Direct uploads: Video files attached to messages — hosted at cdn.discordapp.com links
- Embedded links: YouTube, TikTok, Twitter embeds shared as links in Discord
Downloading Directly Uploaded Videos
- In Discord, click the video → click the download icon or Open in Browser
- Copy the
cdn.discordapp.com/...URL from the browser address bar - Go to klypio.com/app → paste the link → download
Simpler option: right-click the video in Discord → Save video — Discord includes a built-in download button for attached files.
Downloading Embedded Videos from Other Platforms
If someone shared a YouTube, TikTok, or Twitter link in Discord and it shows a preview:
- Click the original link (not the preview) to get the source platform URL
- Paste that URL into klypio.com/app or send it to @KlypioBot
Important Notes
- Discord upload links expire after approximately 2 weeks — download promptly
- Only download from servers you're a member or admin of — respect the privacy of other servers
Download from other messaging platforms: save WhatsApp videos to desktop.
