Xbox Game DVR (and Xbox Game Bar on Windows) automatically captures your best gaming moments. Those recordings belong to you — but Xbox console storage is limited, and clips can be lost if you don't export them before storage fills up or the console is reset.

This guide covers how to bulk save and export all your Xbox Game DVR clips — to your PC, external drive, or cloud — so you never lose an important gaming moment.

Where Does Xbox Game DVR Store Clips?

On Xbox console

Clips are saved to internal Xbox storage and viewable via Xbox app → Captures. To get them off the console, you need to either connect an external USB drive or use the Xbox app on PC to download them.

On Windows PC (Xbox Game Bar)

When you record with Xbox Game Bar (Win+G), clips are saved by default to:

C:Users[YourUser]VideosCaptures

This is a regular folder — easy to copy in bulk.

How to Bulk Export Xbox Game DVR Clips

Method 1 — External drive for Xbox console

  1. Plug an external USB drive into your Xbox
  2. Go to Settings → System → Storage
  3. Select Transfer → choose all clips → move to the external drive
  4. Connect the drive to your PC and copy files to cloud or local backup

Method 2 — Xbox app on PC

  1. Install the Xbox app on Windows 10/11
  2. Sign in with your Xbox account
  3. Go to Game activity → Captures
  4. Select clips → Download to PC

Convenient but not fully automated for large libraries — better for smaller batches.

Method 3 — Direct folder copy (PC only)

If you use Xbox Game Bar on PC, this is the fastest method:

  1. Open File Explorer → navigate to VideosCaptures
  2. Ctrl+A → Copy all
  3. Paste to an external drive or a cloud-synced folder (OneDrive, Google Drive)

Organizing Your Clips After Export

  • Rename files: [GameName]-[YYYYMMDD]-[description].mp4
  • Sort into folders by game or month
  • Enable OneDrive auto-sync for ongoing backup
