If you create content consistently, after six months your video library will have hundreds or thousands of files — poorly named, scattered across folders, with no clear record of what's been used. A monthly audit fixes this.
This is a practical audit process — not theory. Each step fits within 30-60 minutes.
Why Audit Regularly?
- Find content faster: A well-organized library saves 10-15 minutes every time you search
- Reuse content: Many older clips can be used again for new campaigns
- Save storage: Delete duplicates and unnecessary test files
- Prevent content loss: Identify and back up important files that haven't been saved properly
Monthly Audit Checklist
Week 1 — Scan and Inventory
- List all video files in your library (use File Explorer or search)
- Flag files without clear, descriptive names
- Identify duplicates (same content, different file names)
Week 2 — Clean Up
- Delete duplicates — keep the highest-quality version
- Delete test takes and failed recordings you no longer need
- Move files into the correct folders
Week 3 — Standardize Naming
Apply a consistent naming convention:
YYYYMMDD-platform-topic-version.mp4- Example:
20260501-tiktok-phone-review-v1.mp4
Week 4 — Plan Reuse
- Review clips from 3-6 months ago that could be trimmed and reposted
- Find clips that could serve as B-roll for new videos
- Flag high-performing clips to analyze their style
Tools to Support Your Audit
During an audit, you may need to re-download originals of videos you've uploaded to social platforms. Use Klypio to pull originals back from TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook.
Especially useful: Klypio Pro allows batch downloading multiple videos at once — ideal when pulling an entire profile's library for auditing. See /pricing.
Storage After Audit
After auditing, make sure you have at least two backup copies:
- Local (external hard drive)
- Cloud (Google Drive, Dropbox, or NAS)
