Multi-creator live events — co-hosted livestreams, ticketed online workshops, or offline events with several speakers — are growing fast in Vietnam. But once multiple creators are co-organising, money is exchanging hands, and audiences are attending, legal questions quickly follow.

Classify your event to understand your obligations
Online live events (livestreams, webinars)
If the event is fully online and does not involve ticket sales (or uses an international payment platform), the legal requirements are lower. Still note:
- Income from tickets or donations must be declared for personal income tax or corporate tax depending on your structure
- If you sell products during the livestream, Vietnamese e-commerce regulations apply
- Broadcast content must comply with Vietnamese regulations on electronic information
Offline live events (in-person gatherings)
These carry more complex legal requirements. Depending on scale and venue:
- Events at public venues or rented halls: local authority approval typically required
- Events with artistic performances: performance license required under Decree 144/2020/ND-CP
- Events with ticket sales: invoices must be issued and income declared per regulations
Co-organiser agreement between creators
Before the event, put a written agreement in place covering:
- Revenue split: Clear percentages after expenses
- Responsibility split: Who handles content, who handles tech, who processes payments
- Risk allocation: Who is liable if the event is cancelled or if audience complaints arise
- Recording ownership: Who can reuse the recording after the event
Pre-event compliance checklist
- ☐ Define the legal structure of the event (individual, group of individuals, or through a company)
- ☐ Written agreement signed by all co-organising creators
- ☐ If offline: venue permit confirmed, event permit obtained if required
- ☐ If selling tickets: compliant invoicing and payment channel in place
- ☐ Clear refund policy for ticket buyers
- ☐ Post-event tax declaration completed
