You're watching a Facebook Story — a product launch clip, a live event moment, something you want to keep — and you realize there's no save button anywhere in the app. You have 24 hours before it's gone permanently.
Here's how to save Facebook Story videos, whether they belong to someone else or to yourself.
Why Facebook Stories Disappear After 24 Hours
Facebook designed Stories with intentional ephemerality: 24 hours after posting, the Story is removed from public CDN servers. Even the person who posted it can't view it through the normal Stories interface once it expires. Facebook does keep a private archive for the account owner — but that's inaccessible to anyone else.
This means: if you need a Story, save it now — there's no coming back tomorrow.
How to Save Someone Else's Facebook Story Video
Method 1 — @KlypioBot on Telegram (fastest on mobile)
- Open Facebook → tap the Story you want to save
- Tap the three-dot menu (...) in the top right → select Copy link
- Open Telegram → chat with
@KlypioBot→ paste the link → send - The bot downloads and returns the video file within seconds
- Long-press the file → Save to device
Important: This works for public accounts and mutual friends. If a Story is from a private account you're not connected to — and there's no shareable link — no tool can access it. Facebook controls who can see the content.
Method 2 — Klypio web tool on desktop
- Open Facebook in your browser → click into the Story
- Right-click the video or use the three-dot menu → Copy link
- Go to klypio.com/facebook-video-downloader
- Paste the link → download the file
How to Save Your Own Facebook Story
Facebook lets you save your own Stories directly in the app — no external tool needed:
- Open the Facebook app → tap your Story at the top of the feed
- Tap the three-dot menu (...) on the Story
- Select Save Video
- The video saves directly to your phone's camera roll
If you want to recover your own expired Stories, go to Facebook → Profile → Story Archive. Facebook keeps your expired Stories in a private archive for 90 days, where you can replay and download them.
Can You Save a Story That Already Expired?
No — once a Story expires, it's gone from public servers. Facebook removes the files from their CDN when the 24-hour window closes. No download tool can retrieve a file that no longer exists on the server.
The only exception: the story owner can access their private Story Archive (Facebook keeps it for 90 days). But that archive is only visible to the account holder.
Bottom line: act before the 24 hours are up.
What About Regular Facebook Videos (Not Stories)?
Regular Facebook feed videos — posts, Reels, Watch videos — don't have a 24-hour limit. You can download those anytime using the same tool at klypio.com/facebook-video-downloader. No urgency required.
