After recording a great podcast episode with a guest, many creators forget that the relationship still has value. Past guests already know your podcast, have been through the recording process, and are often happy to return if you frame the ask correctly.
When to send a re-engagement message
- Six to twelve months after the first episode — enough time for the story to have developed
- When the guest has relevant news connected to the original topic (new book, new product, change of direction)
- When you launch a new series that fits their field
- When the original episode performed well — sharing those numbers when re-inviting is more persuasive than a cold ask

Tips for re-engagement outreach
- Always reference the specific past episode — avoid generic emails where the guest cannot remember who you are
- If the original episode performed well, mention it — it is real proof of the value you delivered
- Do not re-engage less than three months after the original episode — too soon looks hasty
- Personalise: mentioning a new development in their career shows you are genuinely paying attention
